As a Project Architect with BauerLatoza Studio in Chicago, Liska Architects’ principal, Julie Liska completed the exterior assessment of this historic church. Located in the Ravenswood neighborhood of Chicago, the Chicago Landmark is the oldest wood frame church remaining in Chicago. Julie’s role included assessing the conditions of the materials on the exterior, coordinating a structural investigation into bowing walls and a sinking vestibule foundation and developing a budget for the recommended restoration work. Ultimately, Julie developed a masterplan for the restoration work to address the most critical items such as weatherization and structural stability first followed by energy efficiency and aesthetic improvements as funds become available.
