The second and third stories of this registered historic residence located in Evanston, were destroyed by fire. As project architect and designer for Stephen Knutson, Architect, Liska Architects’ senior designer, Steve Liska, was integral to reviving this Victorian treasure. By researching historic aerial photographs, he was able to recreate the original roofline and paint tests uncovered the original exterior paint scheme. While the interior restorations did not recreate the original to the pre-fire conditions, the design was true to the Victorian style incorporating modern conveniences and comforts. The project closely followed the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties.
